A Word about Printing

The images displayed on this site are optimized for viewing on a computer screen and thereforeare not suitable for printing. If you just want to view the photo on your computer, by all means either right-click the photo (the large size, not the thumbnail) and choose "save as..." or simply left-click and drag the image to your desktop.

You will probably be dissatisfied trying to print an image from one of the pages. They are saved at 72 dots per inch (which is computer screen resolution) while most photos are printed at 300 (or more) dots per inch. If you tried to re-size the photos to 300 dots per inch, the final print would be about 1 x 1-1/2 inches. If you tried to print the original file, you would be able to see the actual dots (remember old dot matrix printers? They were either 72 or 144 dots per inch).

If there is an image you would like to print, please e-mail me with the Image number (at the bottom of the image on each page). I will then e-mail you the original, full-resolution file which you can print at your convenience. Note that these are approximately 3 MB files that will take a looonnnng time to download if you are using dialup to connect to the internet. However, they will be suitable for printing up to 8x10 size.

I regret that I cannot fulfill requests for prints myself; it is simply too time consuming and cost-prohibitive at this point, and I do not have an archival quality printer (hey, I'm a hobbyist, not a professional photographer). If you do not have a photo-quality printer and are not familiar with printing digital photos elsewhere, I recommend:

  1. uploading to a service like snapfish.com or shutterfly.com and having them print. These services (I use snapfish.com) are competitively priced and simple to use. They will mail the prints to you and you can order mugs, calendars, post cards, and other photo-enhanced items.
  2. burning the image to a disk (floppy, CD, memory card of some sort) and taking it to Sam's Club, Costco, Target, FedEx Kinkos, or a whole host of other places that have a Kodak or Fuji kiosk printer. You can make prints on the spot and take them home with you.

Thank you for visiting my site. I hope you enjoy the photos.
